My artwork has made it into Issue 54, August/September 2013, of AESTHETICA.  The international art and culture publication is based in York.  I very much believe in supporting local business, particularly the arts and keeping them in Yorkshire!  The North of England has a mass of talented individuals, successful businesses, etc., who have no doubt been asked at some point, “why don’t you move to London?”… Erm, why?  If you are talented, determined and work hard, and if success is meant for you, will it not happen no matter where you live?

Continuing with how fantastic Aesthetica is, did I mention it is like VOGUE for art!  The publication combines dynamic content with compelling critical debate,  exploring the best in contemporary art and culture.  Aesthetica is stocked throughout the UK in a number of prestigious private and public galleries (Camden Arts Centre, ICA London, Tate Modern, Saatchi Gallery), over 200 WH Smith stores, specialist newsagents and galleries in 20 countries worldwide.  My portraits just went international – again – see my previous post about International Contemporary Artists.

The Artist’s Directory section on my paintings reads:  Autobiographical figurative oil painter Ostapjuk focuses on colour and chiaroscuro lighting effects combined with techniques employed by the old and modern masters. It’s not just about investigating appearances but recording her experiences and emotions in response to the relationship between artist and sitter: “I endeavour to capture their reality.”

If you can’t get your hands on a magazine, why not view the Directory Online.
