Portrait Artist Yorkshire, a much needed up-date by Hannah Ostapjuk Artist and Portrait Painter.
Life and work has been busy and I guess updating my news articles was the last thing on my mind. However in the current Covid-19 lockdown, I found the time to have a nice Yorkshire Tea and write this.
On my Easel…
An oil portrait of my daughter aged 6 months, I’ve had to keep putting it to one side to complete other commissions and project but am looking forward to finishing it over these coming weeks.
In my Sketch Book…
Ah, so much! Over the past two years I have focused on learning. I can paint, I can draw, I can teach but one must never stop learning. Every time I feel I am standing still in terms of personal and professional progression, I throw myself into reading and drawing. 20 books on the go (I am not recommend this method at all) more importantly, drawing. I have completed near a sketch per day from January 2018 to 2020. Starting end of 2016, it took about a year to get into the habit of producing a sketch per day but I made it. I learn so much through drawing, I then transfer that into my paintings and that is where I am at now.

So what am I doing now… while my in school/community projects are all on hold, I have taken to giving back to society in the form of providing Free Online Drawing Lessons. The aim was to create a positive community spirit and get people together through drawing (and art), to aid homeschooling, learning and provide a therapeutic outlet for all – drawing is so relaxing! I’ve had a fantastic reaction! People from all over the world, schools all over the UK, hobbyists, artists, parents, and children of all ages are joining in these drawing lessons and finding much success whether that be for learning or enjoyment – it’s brilliant!
That’s all for now, take care of yourselves and keep an eye out because I’ll be posting more updates and new artwork very soon.
