I received another fantastic opportunity through being shortlisted for the New Lights Art Prize 2013 – to be interviewed by Crispin Rolfe for BBC Look North (Yorkshire and Lincolnshire).  The interview focuses on the importance of art prizes like New Lights and the difficulty faced by artists living in the North of England as opposed to those living and working in London.

As a portrait artist who is successfully making a living from painting, I definitely do not feel the need to gallop down to London and set up shop.  To exhibit every year or biannually in London would be great and is something I am working on.  Yorkshire is such a fantastic county to be a part of and a beautiful place to work – there is no shortage of inspiration.

Thank you once again to New Lights for shortlisting my portraits.
