Where to start! What a week [June 2022] with Alex Venezia – painting in layers oil portrait painting course. It’s so important to keep up with learning. A great pleasure to meet and work with a true master of our time. Alex, teaches you as an equal, putting the painting, oil and portrait techniques across in a no nonsense clever way. He’s humble and kind and all in all the kind of artist that you want to see winning art prizes and being successful. A true honour, Alex, thank you.
I enjoyed spending quality time with all of the artists at the Workshops in Yorkshire retreat – Symi and Joe are stars – from the organisation and welcome to the added extras – they cover it all. A very special moment was meeting Rosemary of Rosemary & Co Artist Brushes – quality brushes, a fabulous demo, stunning scenery and a beautiful evening meal. Thank you. I will be back form more courses one day for sure. Thank you for bringing more world class artists to Yorkshire.
Art Competition success for Yorkshire Portrait Painter and British Artist!
The Almenara Art Prize [2023], my oil portrait paintings: Beautiful Mind – Figurative Art Category, Three Daughters and Just Peach – Portrait Category, made it into the online art exhibition. Commissioned Oil Painting
Commissioned as a birthday gift, something a little bit different for me, an oil portrait painting of an owl. This oil sketch on paper is of a tawny owl, painted back in 2023 from a photo snapped on a mobile phone by the commissioner.
While I am first and foremost a portrait painter, I never shy away from other projects or a challenge. Illustrations for poems, album artwork, wine bottle label design, I have done it all. My interest in drawing and painting actually stemmed from depicting wild animals.
