Thought is was about time I gave you all an update on what this artist and portrait painter is up to!
On my Easel…
Right now I have a commission for a gentleman who lives in Rotherham. The portrait painting is of his late wife whom I was lucky enough to have met a couple of years ago. She was a strong character and having known her even just for that short time will really help me to capture her true likeness.
If you are considering commissioning a portrait painting please have a read of this page on my website: Commission a Portrait.
In my Sketch Book…
While in the beautiful country of Italy I pick up two gorgeous hand made sketch books. They are note books actually but I’m drawing in them, and have begun drawing from life more often. I have posted a photograph here of my favourite life drawing (see left). It is a sketch of my daughter sleeping, sleeping with a huge giraffe her Aunty and Cousin bought her. I can complete such lovely drawings of her when she is sleeping because she keeps still!
Artist and Portrait Painter
So what else do I have on the go, my portrait of Colonel Edward York, this is one I will be finishing this year. With the portrait not being a commission, unfortunately, I must put it to one side when I do receive a commission (for obvious reasons). Further to that I have a portrait of my daughter to complete, I started the painting when she was just 4 months old (she is now at school) and got back to it briefly when I was “taking a break from commissions” between the months of September and November 2016.
I am looking into getting a proper e-newsletter set up so if you wish to be on that mailing list please contact me and it would be wonderful to get my shop set up this year – I certainly have plenty to keep me busy in 2017.
Happy New Year to you all and thank you for keeping up with my art.
