Portrait Painting Progress
Yorkshire Artist, Hannah Ostapjuk, has been painting in public during York Open Studios, working on a portrait of Colonel Edward York (previous Vice Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire).
“I thought it was important to add to the ‘open studios’ part of the event – make it feel like an artist’s studio and to show visitors the quality and man hours that go in to each of my portrait paintings.”
Did I not tell you about Blossom Street Gallery?
I was so happy to have my ‘Girl in the Flowered Dress’ self portrait exhibited in the York Open Studios ‘Taster Exhibition’ at Blossom Street Gallery, York. The taster ran from 18th March to 26th April and will now move to the main corridor of York Hospital, in association with Hospital Arts for North East Yorkshire (HAFNEY), for one year.
I look forward to updating you all with a picture of my portrait painting in the exhibition at the Hospital.

..And Finally to York Open Studios…
What a great end to a brilliant experience, Julie Lightburn and I had a very busy final weekend at York Open Studios. You can see this because we were struggling to get the photographs to prove the mass of visitors! I enjoyed the conversations even more during this final weekend – we just got so many charming characters walk through the door. Sales were up for me this weekend and Julie’s were just as good as the first weekend. More than anything I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing a studio with Julie! A talented, ebullient, organised person (we have a lot in common) that I would absolutely love to work with again in the future, watch this space…
Thank you to the York Open Studios’ organisers for once again pulling off a fabulous event.
